were treated to a sampling of some of the Map Library’s 310,000
holdings at the July 25 program “Maps, Love Letters and More.”
At left, Karl Longstreth, head, Map Library, and director, China Data
Center, International Institute, points to some of the atlases, nautical
charts and cadaster maps (showing land ownership) in the Library’s
international collection. An 1809 pocket globe, shown below, by the
English Dollond family of instrument makers also was among the items on
