Louis Polinsky from Moving and Trucking loads a piece of a 12th century Syrian cenotaph that was moved April 19 from Inglis House to the conservatory at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens (MBG). The 3-ton cenotaph—a monument honoring a deceased person whose body lies elsewhere—was deteriorating under the elements. It will reside at Matthaei until its installation in the Museum of Art addition. Former museum director Charles Sawyer brought the monument to the University in 1960.
