Arthur Miller, playwright and U-M alumnus, dead at 89

Playwright Arthur Miller died in his Connecticut home Thursday, leaving a legacy of classic American theater works, including "Death of a Salesman," "The Crucible" and "A View From the Bridge." Miller was one of the University of Michigan's most distinguished alumni, and his name will be on a new campus theatre which is in the planning stages. More>


Higher education targeted for more cuts

University leaders say Gov. Jennifer Granholm's announcement of a mid-year funding cut for the state's 15 public universities, and a continuation of the nearly 2 percent reduction in the base budget for Fiscal Year 2006, will make it hard to retain quality and increase access to higher education.
