| Elementary students in a Detroit metro-area school
use Professor Elliot Soloway's Palm applications. Soloway is one
of the inventors who will participate in the Office of Technology
Transfer's annual Celebrate Invention event. People interested
in attending the event scheduled for 3-6 p.m. Oct. 7 in the Michigan
League Ballroom should pre-register with Cassandra Moing at camoing@umich.edu.
Soloway, a professor of electrical engineering and computer science
in the College of Engineering, and a professor in the School of
Education and the School of Information, will be at the GoKnow
Inc. kiosk, discussing the development of learner-centered software
for low-cost, handheld, mobile computersfrom PDAs to cell
phonesfor
K-12 students. Other inventions on display relate to the Microflow
Cytometer; the phospholipase A2 enzyme; the MiSo* Michigan Solar
House; Molecular Research Imaging Inc.; the PHSCN peptide; extraction
of 3D anatomical models from medical scan data; and diagnosis of
