Fund established for masonry worker's children

An education fund has been established for the three children of Leo Felty Jr., the 32-year old masonry worker who died Feb. 28 after falling 40 feet from scaffolding at the U-M Museum of Art construction site. Felty leaves behind a wife and children ages 11, 8 and 8.

He was employed by a masonry company hired by Skanska, an international company that is serving as construction manager for the museum project. Work was halted on the museum addition until March 3 to allow the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration to conduct an investigation into the accident.

Those who wish to support the family can direct contributions to Amy Felty, 10071 Heatherway, Pinckney, Mich., 48169.
