Dr. Terry Silver, professor emeritus of radiology, Medical School, has received the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award from the Alumni Association, College of Medicine, State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. The award, bestowed annually, honors Silver’s distinguished service to American Medicine and is in recognition of significant contributions to the welfare of mankind.
David Ginsburg, Life Sciences Institute research professor and professor of molecular medicine and genetics, Department of Internal Medicine, is the recipient of the Robert J. and Claire Pasarow Foundation 22nd annual Medical Research Award in Cardiovascular Disease. The award celebrates stellar achievement, creativity and distinction in research in three areas of medicine: cancer, cardiovascular disease and neuropsychiatry.
Dr. Charlotte Mistretta, William R Mann Professor of Dentistry, professor of dentistry, Department of Biologic and Materials Science, and associate dean for research and Ph.D training, School of Dentistry, has received the Kerry-Manheimer Award sponsored by the Monell Center for her research in chemosensory sciences. Mistretta was lauded for her work to understand how early taste development leads to and guides feeding and nutrition.
