Papyrus Collection

Expert historian to discuss slavery in Henry Russel Lecture

Rebecca Scott, the Charles Gibson Distinguished University Professor of History in LSA, professor of law, and an expert on the intersection of law and history in the study of slavery and emancipation, will deliver the Henry Russel Lecture. Her talk, “Under Color of Law: Contemporary Slavery and the Uses of History,” will take place at 4 p.m. Feb. 23 in the Rackham Amphitheatre.

The Big House is expected to welcome the biggest hockey crowd ever when U-M hosts the 2013 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on New Year’s Day.

Coleman calls delay in crime report a ‘serious failure’


President Mary Sue Coleman on Feb. 10 called the six-month delay in appropriately handling a suspicion of child pornography “a serious failure on the part of our institution.” Coleman’s statement accompanies the release of a detailed report on the six-month delay in response to the suspicion that a medical resident possessed child pornography on a flash drive he brought to work at the Health System.

Student entrepreneurs to compete in energy venture challenge
