This month in history (66 years ago)

It was announced that coronet player and master showman Louis Prima would lead his dance band June 7 at the Senior Ball at Ferry Field. “We came, we saw, we conquered” was chosen as the theme. Departing from custom, the event was to be semi-formal, due to a scarcity of men’s formal attire. Men lacking such attire were asked to wear dinner jackets.
