Photo: Women dentists exhibit at Sundecuse Museum of Dentistry

Jessie Castle LaMoreaux was only woman in her 1896 U-M dental class. After starting her first dental practice at the Battle Creek Sanitarium in Michigan, she followed her sister to Dallas in 1897 and was the first woman dentist to practice in Texas. The photo, circa 1900, is presented in the Sindecuse Museum of Dentistry exhibit “Women Dentists: Changing the Face of Dentistry.” Photo courtesy Rockwall County Historical Foundation.
