Upton named Police Officer of the Year
Sue Upton not only is fulfilling her life-long dream of being a police officer, but she’s been recognized for exemplary service. Upton has been named the first recipient of the Keith Curtis Memorial Police Officer of the Year award for 2008. The honor is named for a DPS officer who died in January 2002.

Family Helpers program connects students, faculty
The new Family Helpers program connects U-M students interested in occasional employment with staff and faculty who are in need of a variety of services, such as pet sitting, house cleaning and gardening.

Michigan Radio completes successful spring membership drive
Michigan Radio’s on-air spring membership drive, which ran from March 27-April 3, generated more than 6,400 pledges totaling more than $620,000 from donors across southern Michigan and northern Ohio, including a 50-percent increase in new members.

Stepping out with baby

Dean Beverly Ulrich’s Developmental Neuromotor Control Laboratory is not a place Rebecca Flynn planned to be when she was pregnant with her second son, Charlie. Shortly after Charlie was born with spina bifida, Flynn was contacted about participating in a study to look at the infant’s control, coordination and the quality of stepping movements.
