The one-hour demonstrations offer tips on how to make lower-calorie meals that are healthy, satisfying and delicious. U.S. Commerce Secretary to speak July 13 at innovation forum
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke and several other senior Obama administration officials will participate in a July 13 forum, hosted at U-M, on the role of universities in innovation, economic development, job creation and the commercialization of federally funded research.

Documentary on Branch Rickey wins Emmy Award
A documentary commissioned by U-M that depicts the life and times of Law School alumnus Branch Rickey has won a 2010 Emmy Award by the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. As general manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers, Rickey broke baseball’s color barrier by signing Jackie Robinson to a major league contract.

Pirate-entrepreneur
When Michigan Engineering alumnus Nick Yang looks in the mirror, he sees himself with a parrot on one shoulder, a black patch over an eye, and a light bulb glowing overhead. "I think of myself as a pirate-entrepreneur," he said. "I build a ship that's fast and mobile. I recruit a very special crew — it's tough to get into my company.” At age 35, he's started three companies and has a fourth in mind.
