Dolen named executive director of Parking & Transportation Services
Stephen Dolen has been appointed executive director of Parking and Transportation Services, effective July 12. Dolen comes to the university from FedEx, where he served as managing director of operations since 2005. In addition to planning and operating the campus parking system, the executive director also oversees fleet operations and bus services.

No Record Update or University Record on Monday because of holiday
There will no Record Update published on Monday because that is the day the university observes Independence Day. Also, The University Record will be distributed to racks around campus on Tuesday morning.

Elder elected to non-union spot on DPS Oversight Committee
Michelle Elder, emergency department technician II in the U-M Health System Emergency Department, has been elected as the non-bargained-for staff representative to the Department of Public Safety Oversight Committee for a two-year term that began Thursday.

Pirate-entrepreneur
When Michigan Engineering alumnus Nick Yang looks in the mirror, he sees himself with a parrot on one shoulder, a black patch over an eye, and a light bulb glowing overhead. "I think of myself as a pirate-entrepreneur," he said. "I build a ship that's fast and mobile. I recruit a very special crew — it's tough to get into my company.” At age 35, he's started three companies and has a fourth in mind.
