1,000 Pitches business idea contest under way across campus
U-M’s third annual 1,000 Pitches business idea contest, conducted by MPowered Entrepreneurship, has collected more than 300 ideas so far. Organizers are collecting entries via online submissions and at traveling pitch stations around campus through Nov. 19. The contest offers a $1,000 prize in 10 categories and can serve as a springboard for student entrepreneurs looking to develop their idea.

Ross School to host national business conference on sustainability
The Stephen M. Ross School of Business will help business professionals and scholars from around the country discuss ways to achieve a more sustainable future when it hosts the 18th Annual Net Impact Conference, “2020: Vision for a Sustainable Decade,” later this month.

Winning app helps provide information to UM-Flint
A mobile Web application developed by a UM-Flint assistant professor of marketing is designed to help the campus’ students, faculty, and staff access real-time or crisis-related information such as exam deadlines, class cancellations, guest speakers, and daily discounts from local merchants. Sy Banerjee’s OMG app also won third place in a regional programming competition.

A leader in dentistry
The last 12 months have been a whirlwind for Dr. Raymond Gist. Last week, the 1966 School of Dentistry graduate became president of the American Dental Association after serving a year as president elect. In May, he delivered the commencement address to dental students at Hill Auditorium. He discusses his personal journey in dentistry and offers advice to dental students in a series of videos.
