In this video, President Mary Sue Coleman discusses the new features on the Global Michigan website, including a new Travel Registry, which starts today and aims to increase and simplify the compilation of traveler information while improving the university’s ability to assist travelers in the event of an emergency.

School of Social Work to launch yearlong 90th anniversary celebration
The School of Social Work will kick off a yearlong celebration of its 90th anniversary on Nov. 19 with a full-day celebration that will include a keynote address by social activist Michael Sherraden. On Nov. 20, the school will launch a Worldwide Day of Service.

Academic Women’s Caucus award nominees due Nov. 22
The Academic Women’s Caucus is seeking nominations for the 2011 Sarah Goddard Power Award, and the Rhetaugh G. Dumas Progress In Diversifying Award. The nominating deadline for both awards is Nov. 22.

World Diabetes Day Health Fair set for Saturday
The Comprehensive Diabetes Center will host its fourth annual World Diabetes Day Health Fair from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. The fair will offer a variety of information on all types of diabetes, free screenings, giveaways, and the opportunity to sign up for clinical studies. Admission is free but advance registration is requested.

Message to middle schoolers
With approximately one-third of smokers taking up the habit before the age of 14, anti-smoking proponents are focusing their preventive message at a younger audience. In that spirit, the College of Pharmacy's American Pharmacists Association — Academy of Student Pharmacists Tobacco Cessation Committee has been making presentations at Ann Arbor Public School's Clague Middle School and the visits now are part of Clague's health class curriculum.
