Campuses and units prepare for Spring Commencement 2013
The big day for which many U-M students have been waiting is nearly here. The traditional Spring Commencement ceremony is at 10 a.m. Saturday at Michigan Stadium, although some unit events begin today. Here is a list of activities and information for those planning to attend.
The university is asking that vehicles be kept clear of lots near Michigan Stadium and Crisler Center.

NextGen Newsletter provides updates on the future of IT at Michigan
Chief Information Officer Laura Patterson has launched an updated newsletter geared to the technology-minded members of the university community. The latest edition of the NextGen Newsletter features updates on MiWorkspace, the new desktop computing and support service; the improved compose-and-reply window for M+Google; and other investments in technologies that support U-M’s current and future needs.

StaffWorks conference seeks poster and speaker submissions
StaffWorks is accepting submissions for poster and speaker sessions for its Best Practices and Technology conference to take place in the fall. StaffWorks is a showcase for U-M staff to share insights, innovations, experience and expertise in the use of technology and best practices to support the services and operations of the university.

Weaving an energy solution
The Woven Wind team, a multidisciplinary group of students from U-M, has been recognized internationally for its efforts to utilize traditional local skills and materials for creating wind power in a small mountain village in Guatemala. The team won first place in the Smarter Planet Challenge for developing a wind turbine with blades made of woven material.
