Two new cafés coming to Michigan Union
University Unions has announced that two new cafés will come to the Michigan Union this fall, further expanding the variety of food offerings in the heart of Central Campus. Au Bon Pain, a café and bakery, will move into the first floor space where the University Club now operates, and Starbucks will locate on the first floor in the space traditionally used as a coffee cafe.
Updated U-M website will emphasize improved functionality and design
The main U-M website — www.umich.edu — will get a significant makeover later this summer to give the university a modern look with best-in-class navigation on a platform that adjusts automatically for any type of digital device.
Advisory committee appointed for UM-Flint chancellor search
President Mary Sue Coleman has appointed an advisory committee to assist with the search for Ruth Person's successor as chancellor of UM-Flint. The search process will begin early this fall.
Art Fair returns to downtown Ann Arbor July 17-20
More than 1,000 artists and a half million art lovers are expected to converge on campus and downtown streets for the 54th annual Ann Arbor Art Fair. The event, from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. July 17-19 and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. July 20, will take over Central Campus streets and Liberty and Main streets downtown.
CoE professors Kickstarting CubeSats into deep space
Two Michigan Engineering professors are forging new ground, turning to the Kickstarter online community to help fund an interplanetary satellite mission. The pair are teaming up to create two new technologies in a matter of months, with the goal of using a plasma thruster to push a CubeSat out into deep space – something which has never been done before.
University Record focus groups have been filled
