MONDAY, Feb. 8

Leaders of Michigan’s University Research Corridor — which includes U-M as one of its members — mapped out five major goals at the opening of the organization’s new headquarters in Lansing.

Robert Fishman, Emil Lorch Collegiate Professor of Architecture and Urban Planning, was featured in the PBS documentary and online series “Blueprint America: Beyond the Motor City,” which explores how new thinking about transportation can potentially “rebuild Detroit and America.”


A new commuter lot has opened at the North Campus Research Complex, and while use has been light so far, university officials are encouraging employees to park there and take the commuter shuttle to the medical or central campuses.

FRIDAY, Feb. 12

Valentine’s Day offers plenty of opportunities to fill that sweet tooth, but Dr. Pamela Rockwell, assistant professor of family medicine, urges people to go easy on the treats with high fructose corn syrup, which is harder for the body to metabolize.
