UMHS honored for blood clot prevention

The U-M Health System has earned the DVTeamCare Hospital Award for its commitment to preventing potentially fatal blood clots. The North American Thrombosis Forum, in coordination with Eisai Inc., selected UMHS as one of two university hospitals nationwide with more than 200 beds to receive the patient safety award. Using patient assessments and medications, fewer U-M patients developed clots that can travel to the lungs.

PBS show features LSA professor

Ronald Suny, the Charles Tilly Collegiate Professor of Social and Political History and professor of history, LSA, is featured in the PBS series “American Experience” at 9 p.m. April 11. The episode, “The Great Famine,” tells the story of how Americans fed millions of starving Soviets during the 1920s. The film also discusses the beginning of Soviet-American tensions that would persist for much of the century. 

Record takes a winter break

Feb. 28 The University Record will not publish an issue Feb. 28 due to the annual winter break. The Record will resume publication March 7. The deadline for submissions for the March 7 issue is 5 p.m. March 1. The Record Update will not send an e-mail edition during the week of Feb. 28-March 4. Major developments that occur over the break may be posted to the Update website.
