Edward Goldman, associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Medical School and former associate vice president and deputy general counsel for the U-M Health System, has been elected a fellow of the American Health Lawyers Association.

Doug Strong, the CEO of the U-M Hospitals and Health Centers, has been elected chair of the board of trustees of the Michigan Health & Hospital Association, a statewide hospital organization. Strong began serving as chair July 1. The honor recognizes his dedication to hospital quality and safety, and his leadership on such issues.


LSA Assistant Professor of Mathematics Richard Yamada has been named the 2011-12 American Mathematical Society Congressional Fellow. The fellowship administered by the American Association for the Advancement of Science provides a public policy learning experience that demonstrates the value of science-government interaction, and brings a technical background to the congressional decision-making process.
