Report on investigator experiences with Institutional Review Boards

A report describing investigator experiences with the campus regulatory system for conducting research with human subjects is available from the Institute for Social Research Survey Research Center.

The report content is based on investigator responses to a survey conducted in late 2009 and provides comparisons to responses from an initial survey conducted in late 2007.

The surveys were a joint collaboration between the Office of Human Research Compliance Review (a unit of the Office of the Vice President for Research) and the Survey Research Center. To protect investigator confidentiality, access to the data was restricted only to the SRC research team who conducted the analysis.

The report presents survey findings on topics covering:

• Communication with the Institutional Review Board (IRB)

• The IRB application review and approval process

• Student researchers

• Usability of the eResearch system

• Visits to IRB-related campus websites

• Attitudes towards regulatory review

The report can be viewed and downloaded at
