Carolyn Kraus, professor of communications and composition in the Department of Language, Culture and Communication at UM-Dearborn, won the Grand Prize in the 2011 Solas Travel Writing Awards. Kraus’ essay, “The Memory Bird,” the story of her search for Holocaust killing fields in Belarus, appears in The Best Travel Writing 2011.
