Construction company honored for Couzens Hall project

Walbridge Chairman and CEO John Rakolta Jr. recently was joined by Hank Baier, associate vice president for Facilities and Operations, as Walbridge was chosen as the first construction company in Michigan to receive the Star Award for safety and health excellence from the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Walbridge was honored for its exemplary safety program and practices at the Couzens Hall renovation project, affecting more than 150,000 square feet of housing space for 560 students. The renovation is scheduled for completion by fall term 2011.

Taubman library team wins innovation award

The Taubman Health Sciences Library team has received the 2010 Jean Williams Sayre Innovation Award for creating the Plain Language Medical Dictionary Widget. The award is given by the Midwest Chapter of the Medical Library Association to recognize creative approaches to the delivery and management of health information. The widget can be embedded on websites and blogs, and translates common medical terms into plain language.
