MLK Symposium events sought for commemorative booklet

The 28th annual Rev. Martin Luther King Symposium features roughly 50 lectures, discussions and presentations throughout January. The MLK Symposium Committee seeks to highlight individual department-sponsored events both on its website and in the 2013 MLK Symposium commemorative booklet. To be included, submit event information at  mlksymposium.umich.edu by Nov. 16. Information submitted later will be posted only on the website. For more information, contact Lumas Helaire at lhelaire@umich.edu or 734-936-1055.

Award nominations sought

The Academic Women’s Caucus is seeking nominations by Nov. 20 for two awards, the 2013 Sarah Goddard Power Award, and the 2013 Rhetaugh G. Dumas Progress in Diversifying Award. To qualify for the Power Award, a candidate should have made significant contributions to the development of the status of women at U-M in addition to demonstrating exceptional leadership, notable scholarship or significant professional accomplishments. The Dumas Award recognizes outstanding institutional initiative in demonstrating notable progress by academic units in achieving ethnic/racial and gender diversity in the professor, clinical professor, research professor and research scientist faculty ladders/tracks.
